A Monte Carlo Method for Analyzing Mixed-Lattice Substitution Experiment Using MCNP
G.B. Wilkin,B.P. Bromley,D.G. Watts
AECL Nuclear Review , 2012, DOI: http:dx.doi.org/10.12943/anr.2012.00016
Abstract: Critical experiments involving a small region of test fuel substituted into a reference lattice have traditionally been analyzedusing diffusion codes to extract lattice physics parameters of the test fuel such as the critical buckling and the associated bias in the calculation of keff . A method that was first developed in 2006 uses a version of MCNP that was modified to allow the analyst to selectively change fission neutron production in various parts of the model. This paper describes the modification made to MCNP, demonstrates how the substitution experiment analysis is done through several examples using data from the ZED-2 critical facility, and finally, quantifies the expected uncertainties in the method.
Gold, the Golden Rule, and Government: Civil Society and the End of the State
D.G. White
Libertarian Papers , 2009,
Abstract: Properly speaking, money and law are natural outgrowths of human society, evolving over time via the voluntary cooperation that lies at the heart of the social enterprise. And as gold and the golden rule have for millennia formed the basis, respectively, of society’s money and law, they accordingly constitute the “twin pillars of civilization,” governing the social enterprise such that, in Mises’s words, “the human species has multiplied far beyond the margin of subsistence.” It stands to reason, then, that if money and law are corrupted, the social enterprise will be corrupted as well. And as this is precisely what the state has done, essentially toppling the twin pillars of civilization, it is necessary to understand what the state is, where it came from, and how it has systematically gone about corrupting money and law, and thus the social enterprise as a whole. For only then can money and law be returned to their rightful owners, and only then can the state be put in its proper place. Which is no place so far as the proper functioning of civil society is concerned.
’n Ondersoek na godsdiens-inklusivisme en godsdienspluralisme by M.A. Kruger
D.G. Breed
In die Skriflig , 2003, DOI: 10.4102/ids.v37i4.489
Abstract: An investigation into religious inclusivism and religious pluralism in the work of M.A. Kruger In his exegesis of Romans M.A. Kruger arrives at the conclusion that there can be people who do not know the Scriptures or have not heard the contents of Scripture but still have true faith. Kruger’s conclusion indicates similarities with several writers who reject the religious-exclusive view that only those who know Jesus Christ and believe in Him are saved. This article explores the question to what extent Kruger’s views correspond with two ways of theological thought, that is, religious inclusivism and religious pluralism.

Besinning oor die diakonale dienswerk na aanleiding van Handelinge 6:1-7
G. Breed,D.G. Breed
In die Skriflig , 2010, DOI: 10.4102/ids.v44i3&4.165
Abstract: Reflection on diaconal service in relation to Acts 6:1-7 Acts 6 is traditionally considered as the description of the origin of the special service of deaconship. The essence and duty of diaconal service is inferred from Acts 6:1-7; it is the service responsible for the care of the poor and promotion of mutual support and love in the church. This article re-examines Acts 6. It investigates whether this text truly describes diaconal service and what it conveys about the content and essence of the seven’s service. This study shows that Acts 6 does not describe the institution of a special service (office) and that the content and essence of the special diaconal service cannot be derived from this text. Acts 6:1-7 is a description of the dynamic work of the Holy Spirit within the church, related to the difficulties that arise with service (διακον α) due to rapid growth.
